Rachael Tarravechia (b. 1995, United States) received a B.F.A. in painting from The Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia in the spring of 2018. She has exhibited her work internationally in the United States, Hong Kong,  Shanghai, France, and Belgium. Tarravechia’s work is part of the permanent collection at The SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, GA. Using imagery from horror movies, video games, and anime to devise narratives that are inviting, the paintings capture moments right before a severe act of violence is going to occur. Weapons and objects presenting themselves, a light shining down a spiral staircase, and a tuned harp ready to be played, draw in the viewer and invite them into their world. Right before something momentous and irreconcilably changed, it’s up to the viewer to choose how to proceed. There is no game without a player. Tarravechia lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, and is represented by Ceysson & Bénétière.
